Is where we cultivate our coffee and where the magic happens so that YOU, can enjoy a wonderful cup of coffee. But Hacienda Iluminada has more to offer than JUST coffee, it gives you life experiences to connect with nature and animals. What is our story?
Hacienda Iluminada coffee farm in Maricao, Puerto Rico is full of nature, coffee trees and beautiful animals, but it wasn't always the way it is now. When Hacienda Iluminada was founded, it was abandoned and its coffee trees were dying so the coffee farm needed a lot of love, care, and time for those coffee trees to flourish again and see their beautiful coffee cherries grow. The coffee trees quickly began to flourish once again months later when our farmers gave them the necessary attention. We planted 50,000 coffee trees.
Unfortunately, Hurricane Maria hit and the situation got a little hard and we lost an important part of our coffee trees, 97% of our coffee plantation was gone, but at hacienda Iluminada we have the best farmers, that helped recover hacienda iluminada life and with time and resilience our amazing farm came back to life. Hacienda Iluminada can be described as a place of resilience. That shows us that when we have hope and put in the hard work, amazing things can happen even when life gets too hard!
What should you expect when you visit us?
Today Hacienda Iluminadaof is full if life, surrounded by big trees and different animals that bring that emotion to the farm. We provide coffee tours! Every Saturday our doors are open for all humans who want to learn, explore, and have fun.
Coffee tours take place every Saturday at 11:00 am and they last two hours. During these two hours, you will connect, explore, and learn about our coffee. You might think two hours is a long time to learn about coffee, but you will experience much more than just coffee. You will get the opportunity to touch, play with animals, and see trees that will captivate you because of their size!
Most importantly, our coffee, how long it takes to bloom, how we select the coffee cherries, who toasts the coffee, and why it matters to be sustainable!
We hand-pick our coffee, did you know that? We don't have any kind of machinery. This is to, first, protect the environment and, second, to experience the true flavor of our coffee. Coffee can lose its delicious flavor if it is not taken care of correctly
In the next three years, we want to convert our coffee plantation to 100% agroforestry. This is the reason we practice sustainable actions in our coffee shops and on the farm so we can contribute to the planet.
It's important that we look after our world in different sustainable ways to continue enjoying the beautiful things nature gives to us, including Maricao’s coffee. The coffee that our humans take with them to different parts of the world, Mexico, Austria, Venezuela, and even Germany!

Surrounded by nature, each of our four beautiful cabins offers modern style. They provide the best characteristics of both rural and urban life. It's the best way to live a coffee farm, best things to do in Puerto Rico. Enjoy the farm, enjoy life, reconnect.
You will have more time to learn and meet the people that make everything possible. How do they know the coffee cherries are in a good condition to be processed and roasted? Who picks out those cherries? You will get the chance to meet Wanda! She is an amazing human who roasts our coffee and can walk you through the steps! The main goal is to establish personal connections and savor life's little pleasures
Imagine waking up to the sound of birds, looking out over Maricao's amazing views, getting a freshly roasted cup of coffee ready and drinking a fresh cup of coffee. An espresso that will wake you up to start on a fresh adventure of the natural world. Suddenly everything stops, and you can just breathe in the fresh air and observe the birds flying over you. You might even realize that moments like these are what counts in life and that life isn't all that stressful!
