This mission of creating jobs and a better future for Puerto Rico is the very reason Hacienda Iluminada was born. Before we even purchased the coffee farm, we sat down with the mayor of Maricao. He saw that our community needed help and we wanted to impact.
His only request was simple, yet powerful: that we would hire farmers from Maricao and the surrounding areas. We have proudly kept that promise since 2014.

Café con Run: The Story Behind the Flavor
Imagine this: After a sold out show that left the entire Coliseum breathless, Bad Bunny finds himself having to escape in the absolute quiet high in the mountains of Maricao, Puerto Rico. He’s not in the city, but in the rhythm of the earth. He meets a farmer that makes him a fresh cup of specialty Puerto Rican coffee, and gives it to Benito. He reflects while the mug is placed in his hands, and the warmth of it is a small comfort against the cool night air.

The Resilience of Maricao
The town of Maricao is a community of extraordinary resilience. Known for our beautiful yet challenging mountainous terrain, its people have faced hardships with an unwavering spirit that mirrors the island's own journey.
The unemployment rate in this region is staggering at 27.3%, a harsh reality that has only been amplified since Hurricane Maria destroyed an estimated 80% of our island's coffee trees in 2016. Many farms all over town took a massive financial loss and have not recovered, facing a critical labor shortage forced our younger people go seek opportunities elsewhere, leaving precious coffee fruit to rot on the trees.
Hacienda Iluminada is a living example of this mission to rebuild and empower. As Bad Bunny raps, "La resistencia, la gente que trabaja, la gente que lucha, esa gente soy yo,"
